Job Description
Provide technical thought leadership on Big Data strategy, adoption, architecture and design
Provide expert-level guidance on Big Data best practices and standards
Work with product owners, business SME and data ingestion and reporting architects to identify requirements and consolidate enterprise data model consistent with business processes
Ensure that all measures for data quality, data governance, security and compliance of data are adhered to
Define and implement standards and best practices for data ingestion, analytics, and integration
Lead and evaluate emerging big data and analytics technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities
Prioritize and scale architecture efforts in close coordination with business teams, Data Lake operational team, and other stakeholders
Academic/Experience/Competency
• Highly competent with Data Lake concepts and Big Data capabilities
• Strong aptitude to learn business processes/products and the role of data within business domain
• Bachelors' or Master's degree in Computer Science or applicable field of study
• Strong Experience in Hadoop, Hbase, Hive, Spark, Yarn, Kafka
• Experience with Hadoop distributions (open source and commercial)
• Strong Experience in Java, Linux/Unix
• Strong Experience in Security, Scription and Automation
• Experience with Scala, R, Python and Spark
• Experience with implementing Modern Data Warehouse / Data Lake
• Strong understanding of Advance Analytics concepts
• Strong communication skills
Business Experience
3-5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN HADOOP ECOSYSTEM (HDFS, HIVE, HBASE, SPARK, SCALA, YARN, SQOOP, RANGER, KNOX, SOLR)
6+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH JAVA AND LINUX/AIX
4+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH SCRIPTING/AUTOMATION
2+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN R, PYTHON, FLUME, STORM, KAFKA
Daily Tasks Performed
• Lead key business-critical projects in the capacity of a Big Data Architect
• Review business requirements and technical design documents to develop effective Big data solutions
• Support projects/initiatives related to data acquisition, processing and utilization through Big Data Platform
• Define Architecture standards, best practices and participate in governance activities during Big Data projects
• Develop and maintain a technical roadmap for Enterprise Big Data Platform for different platform capabilities
• Research, evaluate and recommend tools for Enterprise Big Data Platform
Wants
• Expert level understanding of open source technologies around the Hadoop ecosystem
• Understanding of Advanced Analytics concepts like Data Mining, Text Analytics, Stream Analytics, Machine Learning, etc..
• Experience with AWS, Azure or other Cloud-based PaaS/SaaS environments
• Experience with HDP
Unique Skill Set Desired
Experience with Big Data and Big Data on Cloud
Experience with ETL tools like Informatica
