Application Developer

Associated Asphalt has an immediate opening for an Application Developer in our IT Department at our Corporate office in Roanoke, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience in a VB.net development environment. This role will provide development and ongoing maintenance of proprietary and industry-based systems across the company. General Responsibilities:

-Work directly with the user community to capture and document requirements.

-Identify and implement performance and quality improvements.

-Take ownership and maintain existing applications.

-Complete assigned projects on time with minimal errors or edits.

-Travel to terminal locations or conferences, as needed.

-Other duties as assigned.

General Qualifications:

-Experience with Visual Basic.Net and/or C# programming languages.

-Knowledge of relational databases, preferably SQL Server and the use of stored procedures.

-Aptitude for learning new programming languages and technologies.

-Understanding of web development in a .Net environment.

-Basic understanding of the OSI model and TCP/IP topology.

-Ability to connect well with people to provide internal customer support across the company.

-Professional appearance and demeanor suitable for corporate office environment.

-Good oral and written communication skills.

-Valid driver's license and good driving record for when travel is required.

-Associates Degree in an IT related Field or 2 years' experience in a development environment.

Physical Requirements:

-Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, as needed.

-Able to bend, stoop, squat and reach on an ongoing basis, as needed.

-Able to lift up to 75 lbs., as needed.

-Able to travel by air or road to company location or conferences; travel estimate 25%.
