An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer or Structural Engineer to join our Mining & Mineral Processing business in the Mesa, Arizona area as a Product Design Engineer. The Product Design Engineer will create and design mining equipment for the Mineral Processing business. This will include:

  • Provide design and engineering to assist in the development of new products and modification of existing products
  • Perform solid modelling, detail drafting and analysis/simulation where required
  • Deliver drafting and related technical support to both the sales and marketing group and to manufacturing teams
  • Coordinate new and optimized products through the engineering and manufacturing process
  • Establish and maintain product design documentation and related technical material
  • Administer changeover to new designs for superseded parts, and the disposal of existing components with the assistance of order processing, inventory and sales teams
  • Keep abreast of all developments and new product releases to all areas of defined product responsibility

A qualified candidate will have the following qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineer, Structural Engineer or Materials Engineer degree or similar required
  • Mining or foundry experience preferred
  • Experience with ANSYS FEA and Rocky DEM software is preferred
  • Knowledge of iron ore, gold and other mining fixed equipment and processes
  • Experience with the use of wear materials in applications such as transfer chutes
  • Knowledge of SAG/Ball Mill Liner Design and Crusher Liner Design
  • Previous experience with 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting required (NX preferred)
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills, an ability to reverse engineer, and knowledge and experience in selecting wear materials for use in mining equipment as well as designing and modifying existing equipment
  • Must be a self-motivated individual that is able to work in a team environment but to be driven and able to prioritize and work unsupervised
  • Ability to travel to and visit mines walking on uneven surfaces and entering mining areas
