Summary
The Director of I CARE/ADAPP is responsible for the administrative/supervisor/ fiscal aspects of this community-funded, school based program. Also serving as the parish's Drug Free Coordinator, the Director is responsible for meeting all state and federal guidelines as related to Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities requirements. He/she coordinates I CARE/SDFSCA components in all public and participating non-public elementary, middle, and high schools, including alternative Centers and Juvenile Detention. He/she is active as Co-Chairman of I CARE Advisory Council, made of community volunteers; to coordinate services with other local endeavors. The Director holds primary responsibility for planning, implementing, hiring, monitoring and evaluating the various components of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meets regularly with I CARE Advisory Council.Administers budgets and coordinates planning and implementation of total program.Assists in defining I CARE Program's goals and mission as related to systems.Keeps abreast of current research and data in field of alcohol, drugs, and violence issues.Communicates and coordinates program components with other relevant school board personnel.Sets high expectations and performance standards for all I CARE employees.Prepares reports, proposals, budgets for local, state and federal departments.Supervises the work of I CARE Specialists and other staff.Oversees all fiscal matters concerning travel, requisitions, purchasing, training, etc.Schedules special presentations to school employees, community, families and other groups.Provides representation on local, state boards, communities related to area of expertise.Evaluates and supports staff constructively.Serves as a model of professionalism and communicates educational values.Involves others effectively in the improvement of staffing and professional growth.Provides for media response as requested on drug, violence, and crisis related topics.Engages in and promotes ongoing professional development.Interviews, appraises, selects and assigns appropriate personnel for the effective delivery of I CARE services.Coordinates professional growth opportunities for school based counselors as well as I CARE counselors.

Qualifications: The Director shall meet minimum certification requirements as outlined in the State Department of Education's Bulletin 746 and local school system requirements as they exist at the time of appointment to this position. Graduate of accredited college or university with a Master's degree, skills in management, program development and alcohol, drug, and violence and crisis counseling strongly recommended.
