Term Assistant Professor/Instructor of Spanish

The George Mason University Department of Modern and Classical Languages invites applicants for one full-time, nontenure-track Term Assistant Professor/Instructor position in Spanish linguistics to begin August 2016. Contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and departmental and program needs. Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include 12 credits per semester in language, linguistics and/or culture at the undergraduate level.

Qualifications: * A.B.D. (all but dissertation) is required, Ph.D. is preferred; * Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English is required, as is evidence of excellent teaching ability at all levels of Spanish; * Familiarity with the latest instructional technologies; * Ability to assist in program coordination; and * Commitment to undergraduate education are a plus.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Spanish and is actively engaged with other units of the university, including Latin American Studies, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies and Global Affairs.
