Job Description

 

Position Overview

The General Manager (GM) will serve as the senior leader of the Marvin Home Center (MHC) located in Warroad, MN. The General Manager is expected to implement a business strategy for MHC in alignment with company plans and customer needs.

Expected deliverables as General Manager include:

  • Manage strategies and execute systems/processes that provide improved: inventory control, margin outcomes, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction.
  • Continually improve MHC digital (social media, other online) presence and effectiveness to deliver competitive positioning, maximize capacity, drive revenue growth, and improve profitability.
  • Establish a culture of trust, communication and collaboration with MHC business partners, customers, employees and stakeholders. Develop, inspire and empower MHC leaders and team members.
  • Ensure superior customer service is delivered in the store, by developing a team of highly trained associates, that are great problem solvers, friendly and helpful to customers, are responsive and follow-up with customers through strong communication skills.
  • Create a brand image that positions the Home Center as the place to go for great service and is a hub of the community with events and promotions that bring people into the store.


Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the MHC business unit and provided full financial oversight and accountability for sales growth and margin performance.
  • Manage strategic inventory planning and execution to include market-competitive SKUs, margin optimization, quick turns and limiting overstock in the retail store.
  • Meet and exceed retail sales targets through analyzing sales data and continually renewing and improving store sales strategies through data insights.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to develop, coordinate, and identify cost-effective strategies for advertising and marketing.
  • Research, analyze, and track purchasing habits of the retail customer base to inform marketing strategy.
  • Develop annual operating budgets that support strategies and yearly goals that maximize responsiveness to customer requirements and shareholder return.
  • Design, lead and manage a variety of initiatives tied to the MHC strategic plan designed to scale the business to the next level and to support revenue growth at the 10%+ CAGR growth level annually.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong executive background with experience in sales, retail sales and general management, adept at scaling revenue/business growth through outstanding leadership and execution management capabilities.
  • Effective senior-level leader, with proven ability to effectively shape culture and influence employees to follow and deliver on strategic plans.
  • EPICOR experience helpful.


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or related
field highly preferred, but less formal education with more on-the-job experience may be substituted.

Able to manage and lead people in a team environment and work cross-functionally in a matrix management environment.

Demonstrated knowledge and skill in strategic and organizational planning and management, including financial planning.
