W h o   y o u   a r e: Jar House is looking for an estimator who will be responsible for preparing detailed rehab cost estimates through scoping properties. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge in all phases of residential construction and renovation. We are looking for someone who is adaptable and a solution orientated individual. This position requires a certain level of autonomy and superb time management skills. Our ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of technology. We rely heavily on Google Suite (Sheets, Doc, etc). This role will have be a hybrid role at times and you will may be asked to act as a Superintendent for a few properties as needed.

A   d a y   i n   t h e   l i f e:
  • Review and evaluate residential properties to scope and bid for rehab
  • Formulate detailed scopes, take offs and material/labor pricing using estimating software (Renowalk)
  • Prepare project specific cost breakdowns outlining the scope of work and key qualifications
  • Meet and communicate with Project Managers to review proposed scope of work and pricing for jobs
  • Build up construction cost estimate database for internal use
  • Gather estimating information in construction market, and analyze important metrics to provide cost knowledge and benefits to Project managers for decisions
  • Review construction change orders
  • Managing closing amendments
  • Coordinate/supervise all construction activities for assigned properties

As construction estimators, we are in charge of measuring the job for specific ventures. We compile plans, blueprints, requirements, and other supporting documentation to estimate work. Our job is to calculate the total cost of the project by estimating labor, material, and time requirements. We aim to provide reliable information to the management that will aid in decisions and business planning. Based on contract bids, quotes, schematic sketches, and requirements, we prepare estimates of likely content, labour, and equipment costs, as well as subcontracts for construction projects.
