Provides security system administration in support of classified network systems and individual work stations. The position provides support for classified networks, multiple individual work stations, equipment and software maintenance and upgrades. The System Administrator (SA) has and demonstrates working knowledge of routine system functions, system troubleshooting, security policies, technical security, safeguards, and operational security measures. The SA provides support services on research programs for the INL Field Intelligence Element (FIE) in support of the US Intelligence Community, DOE Office of Intelligence, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and Law Enforcement.

This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of INL staff and external customers. The position provides security consultation to the Secure Operations Manager to assist in assuring compliance with all applicable Executive Orders, Director of National Intelligence Directives, and DOE Procedures. The position provides opportunities to provide relevant technical assistance to intelligence RDD&D Projects. Responsible for ensuring all assigned activities are performed in a secure manner and in accordance with applicable laboratory excellence procedures, within safety authorizations, in accordance with security plans and requirements, in accordance with environmental permits and in full compliance with Laboratory, state, federal policies, procedures, directives and regulations. Works with supervision to assigned schedules and tasks in coordination with various line management and security officers. Demonstrates ability to manage work load and schedule, professionally and creatively. Keeps current on technology trends and advancements.

Responsibilities:

Provide classified computer system administration or information system security officer support for multiple classified networks, multiple individual work stations, equipment maintenance and upgrades, software maintenance and upgrades. Follows the technical direction of the IT Lead. Report all suspected security-related system problems to the IT Lead. Notify the ISSM of any system configuration changes that might adversely impact system security. Performs standard and non-standard computer diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs. Implements and follows the approved operational and security plans and procedures. Performs data analysis and maintains required documentation. Assists in making technical decisions that will allow projects to be properly completed. Performs non-routine tasks requiring the exercise of judgment. Interfaces with system users (customers and clients) ensuring that their needs are promptly and properly fulfilled, especially in the area of system reliability.

Enhance technical skills and proficiency through peer interaction, continuing education and technical reading. Assist in the development and management of career goals. Engage in cross training initiatives. Maintain and improve capabilities and qualifications.

Perform special assignments as developed and assigned from line management.

Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience
