Job Description:
With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assist in all phases of large-scale projects, including international multistory mixed-use, corporate/commercial, retail, education, and laboratory/hospital projects, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, and unit plans; participate in all phases of urban infill development projects, including urban design, mixed-use regeneration, urban revitalization, urban planning, streetscapes, land use and transportation, and open space planning projects; conduct site reconnaissance, site investigations, and onsite charettes; prepare design guidelines, capacity studies, concept plans, development plans, entitlement plans, traffic demand management plans, and traffic impact analysis; coordinate input from multiple partners to translate into site plans; design and concept development for competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and site survey of existing conditions & other input material to determine the best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites and buildings; implement space planning and programming and custom detailing; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating LEED sustainable design principles and preparing LEED documentation; provide research, planning, and design solutions, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, ADA, Fair Housing Act, zoning and building codes compliance, and building materials; prepare sketches, working drawings, and architectural detail specifications for concept design presentations and presentation packages using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling (BIM) software, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign, building models, and freehand sketching including pencil, ink, watercolor, and markers; coordinate with and represent the firm to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having jurisdiction over projects; recommend materials to be used and assist in estimating quantities required; coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, zoning, signage, acoustic, waste management, curtain wall, façade maintenance, special systems, vertical transportation, and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems into unified design for client and agency review and approval; apply architectural principles to review all related shop drawings, submittals, samples, and mock ups; perform necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise from client, agency, or public input; evaluate general contractor bids and project budgets and coordinate construction budgets with clients and contractors to respond to requests for information (RFI's) and review and respond to contractor change orders, including conformance with budgets and payments; conduct site visits and progress meetings to observe construction progress and prepare field observation reports, final inspections, punch lists, and certificates of substantial completion; conduct post-occupancy reviews of clients' use of space and site; prepare LEED building commission reports as requested by clients for other projects.

Salary Range:
