Systems Administrator

Falcon IT is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator (Linus, OX, VMWare, EsX) to work in Lexington, MA. This is a full-time position supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations.
***Must have a Secret Security Clearance***
This role is part of a Cyber System Assessments team responsible for discovering vulnerabilities within cyber defense systems and enabling effective cyber operations. The role supports the expansion and maintenance of a heterogeneous network of Windows, Linux, OS X, and VMware ESX platforms.
Responsibilities:
This position requires the talent of a well-rounded System Administrator who will be responsible for
scoping, planning, designing, delivering, and maintaining systems based on the needs of the research
group. It will play an active role within the organization on a continuing basis, making flexibility and
adaptability key skills. As a Consultant supporting different projects with interesting and challenging
computing constraints, strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. This role will also
provide technical support to users, provision new research systems, update system configurations, solve
user problems with application compatibility, and complete installations and operating system
upgrades. Compliance is also an important component of the role. Support will be required as an
alternate Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to assist in computer system security compliance,
issue detection, reporting and mitigation. This may require assistance with developing and maintaining
System Security Plans (SSPs), ensuring Information Technology (IT) systems are operated, audited,
maintained, and disposed of in accordance with SSP guidelines, and ensuring configuration management
is maintained and properly documented.
Required Skills:
• Broad System Administrator experience in diverse OS/network environments (Linux, Windows,
Macintosh)
• Experience in designing, building, and supporting virtualized environments
• Experience in VMware vSphere 5.0 – 6.5
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with troubleshooting servers and storage of various platforms
• Solid understanding of networking (e.g. switching, routing, and firewalls) and networking
services/protocols (e.g. DNS, DHCP, HTTP etc).
• Enterprise storage system experience (iSCSI/NFS, EqualLogic/NetApp,etc)
• Ability to assess current infrastructure and plan expected computer upgrades and new
infrastructure hardware procurement to provide a high-grade development environment. Assist
with procurement.
• Design software and hardware requirements that meet program specifications.
• Broad familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
• Experience preparing machines for classified use and initiating the certification and
accreditation process.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in dynamic environments
• Understand and operate within established internal IT policies as appropriate
• Maintain and update processes, procedures, and solutions
Other Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of relevant work experience
• At least 8 years of System Administration experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Candidate will be required to meet DoD 8570 requirements i.e. Security+ certification or
equivalent within 6 months of start date.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess Secret security clearance, Top Secret Preferred
