POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for all technical matters concerning the PADS system. Provides technical guidance and leadership to all members of the PADS group and NEI. Direct responsibility of all software engineering personnel. Assist with the implementation and installation of the PADS network. Coordinate and oversee the writing and production of all technical documentation. Maintain a high level of technical expertise to ensure a compatible relationship between the PADS member utilities and Canberra Industries. Work with the PADS System Administrator and NEI as appropriate and required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensure that the PADS system is functioning at the highest level of availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Monitor and support day-to-day operation and maintain overall system integrity.
  • Assist PADS members to answer software interface issues as they arise.
  • Provide technical assistance in fulfilling special requests to support the efforts of NEI and the PADS System Administrator.
  • Design and develop new and related software projects.
  • Review and approve all ECN’s and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to the central operators.
  • Review and maintain software development QA documentation and procedures .

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive knowledge in VMS mid-range computer operations and system networking.
  • Experience in INGRES database management, design and optimization.
  • Experience with cloud based applications
  • Expertise in networking and network security, command level operating skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current software development processes and related QA methodologies.
  • The ability to travel (30%).
  • Able to work modified hours.
  • Experience in OpenRoad software development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco IOS software and configuration.
  • Experience in network design and support specifically with DECnet and TCPIP
  • Experience in Microsoft Visual Studio development and support.
  • Experience in 4GL programming

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four year degree or equivalent work experience. Must be experienced programmer.

AMOUNT OF EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

  • Five + year’s software development, one year database design and maintenance, two years networking experience.
  • Ensure knowledge of software development process and database operations.
