Job purpose

The Director of Retail Operations Sales is responsible for executing the overall strategy,

management, operations and financial performance of the company’s dispensaries; ensuring

dispensary operations are aligned with Big Island Grown’s vision and mission; implementing

and ensuring the compliance of day-to-day retail processes in accordance with state regulations

and standard operating procedures. The Director of Retail Operations Sales will manage and

motivate the retail team to provide a world class, industry leading patient experience through

effective coaching and development, performance management; and the design and execution of

strategic sales, service and revenue goals. The position will play a critical role in developing

patient outreach programs, launching targeted campaigns, and liaising with the community.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leader and champion of company values while inspiring a culture of integrity,

transparency, collaboration, and accountability-Serve as an example

  • Build and maintain a world class, industry leading customer experience aligned with

company values, mission, and vision

  • Drive notoriety and consumer demand of the Big Island Grown brand
  • Maintain and build customer loyalty
  • Develop, revise, implement best practice SOP’s
  • Drive revenue
  • Create annual business, operational plans, personnel plans and reports on the overall

financial health and customer demand for each location

  • Set sales, service and revenue goals while leading team to exceed them
  • Collaborate with department heads to effectively manage inventory to ensure optimal menu

diversity and variety

  • Develop, plan, and execute price strategies, specials, promotions, merchandising, and

discount programs working collaboratively with other department heads

  • Understand the overall retail landscape in the market including direct and indirect

competition, industry trends, etc.

  • Provide strategic direction and identify creative ways to expand the business, and

continuous improvement of dispensary operations

  • Work with HR to recruit, hire and retain the best talent; facilitate thorough on-boarding and

training of all new-hires

  • Establish the team culture with clear expectations and communication
  • Establish and maintain process for development accountability of the team
  • Ensures that all employees do their duties safely and to the highest standard
  • Prioritize and delegate responsibilities to managers, setting clear expectations across all

roles

  • Work with the retail managers to effectively forecast the business, schedule to meet the

demand, provide outstanding customer service and fully execute all programs and initiatives

  • Determine, establish, and utilize KPIs that can be used for goal setting and performance

management; ensure key resources, trainings or procedures are implemented to support the

needs of the teams to achieve goals

  • Clearly communicate expectations including [but not limited to] all visual guidelines,

accurate implementation of marketing objectives, operational, personnel, safety, and

security standards to store management during [regular] visits; and support, motivate, and

enforce to this end

  • Collaborate with Marketing regarding product campaigns, community events, other related

initiatives to ensure comprehensive effective marketing strategy

  • Resident expert on the POS system as well as all other retail software platforms; thoroughly

understand the systems in order to trouble-shoot it, teach it to others, etc.

  • Manage all IT functions of all locations (Hardware, software, Internet, etc.); work with IT to

trouble shoot, fix, and/or partner with customer support to resolve all issues

  • Stay informed on new systems, processes, and technologies to drive in-store innovations and

customer success

  • Manage all retail building/facility issues (AC, heating, plumbing, etc.)
  • Secures and maintains assigned company property
  • Ensure inventory control and management of the supply needs of each dispensary
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
  • Build maintain a system to manage and track sales, promotions, and expenses
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies, procedures, state and local laws
  • All other assigned duties as directed

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to balance a strong director level presence with a high level of approachability
  • Strong business acumen including data management, attention to detail, and excellent

communication, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills

  • Must have strong organizational, project management and time management skills to

successfully implement strategic initiatives from initial idea through execution

  • Experience with and knowledge of cannabis preferred
  • Ability to quickly comprehend and respond to data/business information including budget,

sales, labor forecasts, and retail strategy

  • Multi-store management and store openings experience is highly preferred
  • Must be able to lead teams effectively in fast-paced environment across all locations
  • Strong IT background with an ability to master all retail software platforms
  • Monitor and/or adjust KPIs; work with each store manager to meet and exceed goals
  • Proven track record of managing the scope of operations in a complex business environment
  • Ability to identify resolve problems quickly
  • Open availability; able to travel as needed including to support marketing, trade, and retail

events

  • Ability to provide clear, timely and coordinated communication to multiple locations is

required

  • Must have a deep sense of passion and malama for Big Island Grown product and brand
  • Able to pass criminal background check
  • Ability and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned

Working conditions:

Travel between dispensaries, and inter-island is required. Include standing, bending, and lifting

up to 50 pounds. Indoor, office setting. Must be able to work in noisy or otherwise busy

atmosphere. Must be able to work overtime, Weekends and Holidays. Time off must be

approved by supervisor.

Physical requirements:

Individual must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation depends on your experience.
