Job Description

THE ROLE

Your role stands at the intersection of technical development and implementation of technology solutions and the fight to change the odds for historically underserved children and families. As a key member of Stand’s national technology team and Stand’s Center for High School Success Team at a moment of tremendous need and opportunity, you will have a hands-on role driving data services and analytics, from discovery to implementation. You will manage the work of a team of technology professionals while coordinating with Center for High School Success staff and external school and district technical staff. THE ORGANIZATION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Matrix report into the Center for High School (CHSS) team, work closely with school and district technical staff to: 

  • Provide data solutions and create data enterprise for CHSS both for our internal improvement as well as for our external partners
  • Use creative thinking and skill to devise technical data solutions as CHSS grows
  • Transform data from school district partner SIS systems (usually sent in excel files) to data visualizations using tableau or other dashboard platforms.  This includes outreach, systems to monitor receipt of data, preparation and cleansing, and validation for dashboard processing and reporting on a frequency of quarters, trimesters, and/or semesters
  • Perform operational data processing of CHSS program information including data input, preparation and cleansing, and validation for dashboard processing and reporting on a frequency of quarters, trimesters, and semesters
  • Ensure timely and accurate data processing, analysis, and effective data management
  • Serve as a data gatekeeper to ensure data consistency, accuracy, integrity, and quality
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end project to onboard new schools or districts by working with CHSS coaches and external school/district staff to ensure receipt and quality of data files to set-up dashboards for CHSS reporting
  • Provide CHSS support in solving data and reporting problems, working with coaches and schools.
  • Modify, enhance, and build reports including the interpretation of data, data visualizations, and information to support CHSS metrics
  • Participate in CHSS tech projects as a core team member, super user, to define business processes, business rules, and functional requirements
  • Collect and inventory bi-annual school and district CHSS implementation measures connected to CHSS roadmap
  • Train coaches and end users
  • Support onboarding of new schools or districts by working with CHSS coaches and external school/district staff to ensure systems are in place to receive data in efficient and effective manner

Manage a team of yourself and one data/BI analyst.

  • Lead team in the planning, design, acquisition, configuration, development, implementation, maintenance and technical and operational support of data services, reporting and BI platforms
  • Support operational data services for CHSS program
  • Manage prioritization and distribution of work and escalation
  • Oversee individual goal setting and performance management
  • Coach and develop staff

Execute the technical roadmap, conduct bi-annual planning with business units, and serve as technology partner and translator between business leaders, user communities, and technical staff.

  • Execute end to end Project Life Cycle (PLC) management to support data services and BI analytics
  • Partner with business leaders and user communities including external schools and districts to analyze business processes, define requirements, scope and propose solutions, and plan for execution and implementation
  • Lead change management efforts, including communication plans, user training and rollout, and deployment planning logistics

Manage a portfolio of applications, tools, and data services and integration:

  • Manage vendors, contracts, and user licenses to optimize ROI
  • Oversee applications, database/data universe & tool portfolio including:
    • BI and reporting: Tableau
    • Big data: Voter File integration and data services API
    • Data Services and ETL tool: excel, Access, ETL, and scripts
    • Data integration: Jitterbit, custom APIs
    • Data dashboards for Stand CHSS program
    • Data dashboards for internal Stand team: Development, FEOE and Election

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passionate commitment to Stand for Children’s mission
  • Experience with data services, data models, ETL, BI platforms and analytics is required
  • BA/BS with 7-10 years in experience in technology, 3-5 years in data services, BI, analytics
  • Experience using different K-12 Student Information Systems (SIS) – top systems we interact with are PowerSchool, Skyward, Synergy, and Infinite Campus
  • Working knowledge of school district student information systems and pulling various reports including grades, credits, behavior, attendance, and others
  • Experience using data for evaluation and research in a school district or school district adjacent organization
  • Experience in partnership with business and ability to translate business into technology solutions
  • Demonstrated experience driving technical transformation in data services and analytics and change management across the enterprise
  • Understanding technologies of database, data model/structures, data services technologies, BI and analytic platforms, enterprise applications, support and development, large-scale project management, business process engineering
  • Proficiency in technical development methodologies, PLC, SDLC, RAD, Agile/SCRUM
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills; a focus on rapport-building, listening, asking questions and delivering information in a friendly manner to customers
  • Demonstrated technical skills in:
    • Data support and analysis. Experience with Tableau is desirable, PowerBI, Domo or equivalent is a MUST
    • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for ETL
    • Dashboard and report development/coding, modification and enhancement
    • Experience with data visualization, UI/UX (dashboard, metrics, graphs)
    • Ad-hoc analysis of data for trends, issues, and opportunities
    • Experience understanding of database structure and data governance

SALARY RANGE: $112,500 - $140,700 commensurate with experience. Generous benefits.
