CASA DE MARYLAND & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

CASA de Maryland has created a separate affiliate to expand the tools we have available to serve the immigrant community. CASA in Action is a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA de Maryland and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland and adjacent communities, CASA de Maryland and CASA in Action are separate organizations. Each is a separate nonprofit corporation with its own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.

 

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

The Health and Human Services Department responds to the needs of working class Latinos and other immigrants and their families. To include: Health and Social Services, Legal, and Immigrant Integration Programs.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Contact Tracing Specialist is an important frontline position, helping to contain the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community. Working closely and in partnership with Local Departments of Health, the selected individual will work with COVID positive community members to develop a comprehensive list of contacts made by the individual subsequent to infection and reach out to these individuals to provide necessary testing, health, education and social service navigation support. CASA seeks a professional, bilingual (Spanish/English), and friendly candidate with excellent customer service skills and experience engaging the Latino and immigrant community.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting interviews in a professional manner, using emotional intelligence to include understanding social, language and cultural proficiency.

  • Collecting and recording accurate information using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

  • Calling newly diagnosed patients to trace individuals they had contact with and determining exposure.

  • Interviewing traced contacts, assessing symptoms, and referring them for testing.

  • Providing contacts with critical information on isolation and quarantine procedures.

  • Collaborating with designated local authorities in supporting the isolation and quarantine of individuals.

  • Maintaining ongoing virtual communication to monitor symptoms.

  • Facilitating health checks and test, as well as referring contacts to available community resources.

  • Complying to all Health Department regulations, including those aimed at protecting personal information.

  • Work in collaboration with CASA Health and Social Services team to provide needed social service supports to COVID-19 positive families and those recommended for quarantine.

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate required, some college level courses preferred (in social or health sciences)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required. French proficiency a plus. Professional proficiency in 2 languages a must

  • Minimum 1-year experience working in customer service environment serving working class immigrant communities.

  • Excellent customer service, problem solver, demonstrates initiative, great organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF Professional.

  • The ability to effectively collaborate with co-workers and clients face-to-face and in meeting settings is required.

  • Deep commitment to social change and to growing CASA as a membership organization in which members have decision-making authority.

 

This is a term position with a limit of 4 months paid at $20/hour during a 40-hour week. Length of term up to 4-month limit may be negotiated. Term may be renewed should funding for position dictate. Position is available immediately
