Quality Assurance Manager

If you are passionate about Quality, AET has a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager in our St. Paul office. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

Our in-house quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program was established in 1993 to guide staff during technical work and systematically and rigorously audit departments, offices, labs, test procedures & calibrations, and test accuracy.

In this position you will plan, monitor, coordinate, and implement the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet the needs of AET and its clients.  You will act as a liaison between auditors and assessors of independent laboratory certification/validation organizations and respective AET personnel and assist and consult with staff to maintain high quality standards. You will inform and advise the Management Team on quality matters. This includes the ability to:

• Actively manage and enhance the QMS, Quality Assurance (QA) Manual and procedures on a company-wide basis. 

Develop and implement QA training sessions as necessary.

Facilitate quality performance teams and guide the quality process.

Maintain current ASTM and AASHTO standards and other QA information on the AET intranet.

• Communicate with the Board of Directors on matters related to QA.

Inform the leadership as to results of audits, nonconformance and general compliance with the QMS.

Prepare annual QA budget for submittal to CFO.

Assist the leadership team in targeting specific areas of file documentation, work procedure or training for continuous improvement efforts.

• Perform annual audits, report findings, and follow up on audit findings for all departments and offices.  

Promote and review laboratory accreditation and proficiency programs.

Maintain and expand ISO 17025, AMRL R18 and/or USACE accreditation/validation across the organization, as necessary.

Keep current with updates and monitor websites. 

Provide oversight of testing procedure updates by operating units on a yearly basis.

• Perform annual review of the QMS for compliance with requirements of certifying and/or accrediting entities used to establish AET’s conformance with required standards.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a quality-related field.  Consideration will also be given to an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

A minimum of 5 years of directly applicable QA experience, knowledge of QA practices and procedures, and ASTM/AASHTO experience.

Six Sigma/ASQ certification preferred.
