The Senior Software Quality Engineer designs and develops test plans and test cases for new integrated applications and new interfaces.  This position is responsible for development of automated test scripts.  The Senior Software Quality Engineer reviews work of Quality Engineer I\II and provides mentoring, training and acts as a point of escalation.

What you will do to contribute to the company's success

Set forth below is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities (or "essential functions") of this position.

  • Develops functional and technical test plans and test cases.
  • Develops automated testing plans using Microsoft Visual Test Manager and Katalon Studio.
  • Develops detailed technical test cases for various types of interfaces including SOAP, REST APIs, Command Line, Database level procedures, etc.
  • Designs data scenarios for data driven test cases and ensures test data is in place to support testing.
  • Manages defects and user stories in Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Ensures change management compliance.
  • Manages vendor interaction, including communication of priority and ensuring vendor solutions meet business objectives.
  • Interacts with vendors in order to replicate issues and verify business scenarios.
  • Works with vendors to determine scenarios around infrequent defect scenarios.
  • Develops and executes complex regression tests.
  • Performs data validation of complex reports.
  • Assists in vendor product-related lab evaluations and comparison documentation, including participation in the Request For Proposal (RFP) or Request For Information (RFI) process.
  • Evaluates business processes to identify system enhancements or process changes that would improve efficiency or data reliability.
  • Analyzes project requests to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • Works as part of a project team to coordinate network environments and determine project scope and limitations.
  • This position has the expectation and responsibility to take on other duties needed to help drive our purpose, fulfill our brand principles and abide by our organization’s values. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and five years related experience and/or training in test plan\case development and execution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience must include more than 2 years of experience in the following:
    • Working in large scale integrated multi-system environments
    • Performing vendor management
    • Working with cable provider back office systems
    • Building and supporting integration with telecom\cable provider network
  • Advanced experience in Automation and CI/CD pipeline
  • Expertise in QA tools and processes
  • Proficient in Agile QA practices and rapid development
  • Should be able to work independently

Certificates, licenses, registrations

  • Intermediate certification in Database technologies such as SQL Server or Oracle
  • Intermediate certification in Operating Systems such as Windows or Unix
  • Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)

Other skills and abilities

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with sound problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be flexible and a team player.
