Job Description

JSG is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer - Hybrid for our client in Simi Valley, CA.

The Senior Software Engineer provides expertise on a wide range of complex software issues and contributes to the characterization, analysis and development of the product. Acts as a key contributor in the Software Engineering Team, and creates solutions to complex technical problems.

Job Responsibilities

Acts as a lead, providing significant support in the development and implementation of increasingly complex software. Defines requirements specifications, software architecture, and designs, develops, tests, and verifies software for company products.
Contributes to design and architecture of new projects. Participates in improving existing designs and implementing new functionality of complex software.
Gathers functional requirements and develops technical specifications.
Creates, maintains, and provides relevant documentation including technical requirements, specifications, design documents, and test plans as needed. Prepares, checks and approves certification test plans/procedures for software.
Supports other members of the team with development and safety knowledge and best practice. Perform, track and control internal project activities and manage external sub-contractors (including offshore verification partners).
Gathers functional requirements and develops technical specifications. Creates, maintains, and provides relevant documentation including technical requirements, specifications, design documents, and test plans as needed.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities, including standardization of tools and processes
Strong, proven track record delivering embedded, safety-critical software projects in the aerospace or high technology sectors from requirements capture to realization
Strong, proven experience with embedded C
Strong, proven experience applying aerospace standards for software development similar to DO-178/ED-12 (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification) and completion of software certification audits
Experience leading activities within a team, reviewing the work of others and coaching for success
Experience supporting the development of new business proposals by providing technical content, work breakdown and hours/cost estimates
Experience with configuration management tools, problem reporting tools, debuggers, emulators and integrated development environments
Knowledge of interface and communication protocols (ARINC429, CAN, SPI)
Strong written communication and verbal communication skills
Ideally, experience with model-based software development tools such as SCADE
Ideally, experience with real-time operating systems
Ideally, experience working to MISRA C standards
