CONTROLLER

Summary:

Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will be directly responsible for the functions of general accounting, financial reporting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash management, and annual audits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reports financial performance metrics for clinic locations.
• Directs and manages key processes including financial, management and cost reporting and analysis; net revenue modeling; operating and strategic financial planning; annual operating and capital budgeting; decision support and business analysis.
• Establishes systems to monitor performance and assure all departments are delivering financial goals as committed through the budget. Recommends redistribution of resources when necessary to deliver outcomes.
• Assures adherence to company financial policies and internal controls, regulatory compliance, and generally accepted accounting principles. Develops and implements financial policies and/or procedures as needed.
• Collaborates with colleagues and external constituents on grant-related activities.
• Serves as lead on annual audits and other related activities.
• Manages the Finance Manager with opportunity to hire staff as warranted. Participates in candidate selection process across the organization if needed. Provides on-going financial education opportunities for staff, department managers and administration, as necessary.
• Works with leadership team and other department personnel to identify financial improvement opportunities through monthly budget variance analysis, studying trended data, comparing benchmark information and reviewing productivity data.
• Provides financial decision support to assigned operating unit(s) and selected service lines by providing program, payer and service profitability reports and operating and capital investment analysis and forecasting.
• Ensures the achievement of financial goals and performance metrics.
• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Supervisory Responsibility: Manages the Finance Manager

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related healthcare field
• 7 years of progressive experience healthcare finance
• MBA or CPA designation strongly preferred, or equivalent experience with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, cost accounting and healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience in non-profit community healthcare (FQHC) preferred
• Grant management
• Advance computer, analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to prepare detailed operating and financial reports
• Experience presenting financial reports for Board of Directors
• Requires strong interpersonal, leadership and communication/presentation skills.
