Olive is searching for experienced engineers to provide technical leadership and guidance as we build our technology platform. Principal Software Engineers within Olive Graph work with the Olive Product Management team to deliver value in our Olive Graph . We encourage a growth mindset amongst all of our engineers and value those with the drive to be continuously expanding industry knowledge. A successful Principal Engineer will possess strong analytical as well as technical skills, and have the ability to communicate the logic behind technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. In general, the Principal Engineer should be a force multiplier, both in their delivery and how they elevate the other engineers in the department.

Responsibilities

• Actively lead design and architecture for both new and established projects
• Take active, direct leadership of the technical decisioning, design, and execution for our Graph products
• Does not hesitate to take on technical stories during sprints
• Drives the best practices for the team as well as across Olive
• Help maintain and contribute to the collaborative Engineering culture.
• Foster proactive and cooperative relationships within the project team.
• Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Analyze applications and make the necessary changes to optimize.
• Embrace changing requirements.
• Be a multiplier by mentoring and leading other engineers and help them adhere to our best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience with various SQL, NoSQL and/or Graph databases
• History of designing, developing, delivering and supporting highly scalable, available (>5 9s) and secure services
• History of designing and delivering software solutions to real world problems across a variety of technology stacks and programming languages
• Demonstrated understanding and evangelization of engineering excellence best practices with experience in the development of highly maintainable and reliable code using practices such as unit testing, integration testing, proper code documentation, and appropriate logging
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated understanding of fundamentals engineering concepts, especially in areas of Security, Big Data, Highly scalable and availability service, and Distributed Systems
• Knowledge of software and application design and architecture
• 8+ years of relevant programming experience, with a preference for
  • NodeJS/JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python or similar languages
  • Multiple AWS services like SNS, Lambda, SQS, S3, etc.
  • Experience in container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
  • Build and Release pipelines (such as Gitlab CI/CD

Ideal Experience

• Experience with operationalizing machine learning models on large datasets is a plus
• Experience with Big data pipelines such as Airflow is a plus
• Experience with Search infrastructure such as ElasticSearch is a plus
• Knowledge of graph databases (Labeled Property or RDF) and SPARQL is a plus
