Legal Assistant - Estate Planning
- $21 to $43 Hourly

We are looking for an exceptional legal assistant to assist in the day-to-day functions for our estate planning practice group. Our ideal candidate is trustworthy, responsible, well-organized, and has 4 years previous legal administrative experience in estate planning and trust administration areas of the law. As a legal secretary at our firm, you will work directly with attorneys and paralegals to draft estate plans, post death trust administration documents, record deeds, file court documents, follow up with clients, execute and notarize documents with clients, nurture client relationships, conduct research to support attorneys’ ongoing cases, and handle general clerical tasks.
Legal Assistant Duties
- Support multiple attorneys
- Work with Attorneys to create, review and revise estate plan forms
- Heavy telephone contact, email and direct interaction with client
- Assist attorneys with information gathering and research for cases and mediation or trial preparations
- Conduct research in legal publications and databases to find laws and court decisions pertaining to current cases
- Draft legal forms for probates, trust administration/controversy matters and guardianships
- Communicate with court officials and opposing counsel on behalf of clients and attorneys as needed
- Help lawyers prepare for hearings, mediations, and trials
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail
- Manage attorneys’ calendars; schedule meetings and appointments
- Maintain organized files, including copies of all documents and correspondence
- Perform other administrative duties as they arise
Legal Assistant Requirements and Qualifications
- 4 Years previous experience in Estate Planning and Post Death Trust Administration
- Legal secretary certification from an organization like Legal Secretaries International, Inc. or the National Association of Legal Secretaries is preferred, but not required
- Demonstrate ethical conduct and ensure client confidentiality
- Excellent research and organizational skills
- Superb written and oral communications skills
- Must have Probate Court Filing experience
- Computer literate in word processing, databases (ProLaw), email, and Judicial Council Forms, office software (Outlook – emails and calendaring)
- Must be able to format documents
- Notary Public
