Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Production Planner’s responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels, regularly providing updates to management team and facilitating timely delivery of products to customers. This position will utilize forward looking sales forecasts and sales history to create and implement a master production schedule. The production planner will manage the schedule to achieve targeted finished product and raw material inventory levels. They will implement Kanban for all reagent SKUs and be responsible for resizing/resetting safety stock thresholds. Production planner will also be responsible for the SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations & Planning) process for reagent manufacturing.

To be successful in this role:

-          0% backorders on all items (defined by lead times for products)

-          <1% scrap for finished goods and raw material.

-          Efficient planning rates for larger bulk builds/fills (once/quarter)

-          Efficient planning labor and resource to account for overtime

Essential Functions

  • Lead SIOP process for reagent manufacturing.
  • Determine and schedule based off the amount of material, equipment and labor required for production.
  • Schedule production in accordance with material, equipment, and labor availability.
  • Monitor material supply and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage.
  • Creation of manufacturing orders (MOs) for production and assembly events.
  • Create and maintain production and assembly schedules and prioritize job orders for production optimization.
  • Analyze backorders, current orders, and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan and schedule production.
  • Implement changes to production schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Address and resolve production issues to minimize delays in production.
  • Investigate production issues, analyze root cause(s) and provide solution(s). Escalate as required.
  • Lead Reagent Daily Management meetings.
  • Implement a 30, 60, 90-day production plan.
  • Plan inventory management processes to avoid shortages and excesses.
  • Calculates, monitors and reviews periodic capacity planning data with manufacturing leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies

  • Experience with Reagent planning.
  • Proof of at least one FDA EUA approved Vaccination for Covid-19 required. (Subject to reasonable accommodation)
  • Ability to multitask and streamline workflow within a highly flexible work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrates professional behavior associated with performing in a leadership role.
  • Ability to identify and report potential production/inventory errors and issues in a timely manner.
  • Advanced computer skills in ERP and database applications are required.
  • Able to create and analyze data reports in Excel or similar software to make inventory and production decisions.
  • Proven ability to coach buyer/planners to master the competencies associated with production and inventory planning best practices.
  • Ability to manage a metric driven organization with decisions and actions based on the results.
  • Numerical accuracy and mathematical skills are essential to the success of this position.
  • APICS or similar certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in a cross functional team.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or related. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Supply Chain/Master Scheduling or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a desktop computer and smartphone.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.

Travel

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Less than 10% travel is required.
