Product Development Manager - Great Company

Company is a leader in the design and manufacture of loading dock equipment, has a great opportunity for a self-motivated Product Development Manager with strong engineering knowledge to support our team with development, improvements, technical direction and resource support. The successful candidate will become the driver, coordinator and facilitator of projects and product development.
Primary Job Focus
- Improve existing products
- Develop of new products and solutions that exceed our customers' needs.
- Provide technical direction, guidance and resource support. Assist in business development. Create and develop detailed technical documentation and presentations. Liaison with Manufacturing to flush out quality or product improvement ideas for continuous product improvement ideas and tie this into warranty issues. Training and mentoring Engineering resources and back up as well as active contributor to Engineering Services and their regularly scheduled meetings.
Job Responsibilities
- Final say and approval on product changes, improvements and implementation
- Effectively develop team and work with cross functional teams throughout organization
- Assist in the strategic planning of product development activities.
- Provide direction and control of product development activities.
- Ensure products are fully and correctly documented and defined.
- Maintain cradle to grave responsibility for product lines.
- Ensure that product development is focused on meeting and exceeding the customer's requirements.
- Ensure we are creating and providing the best solutions possible for customer's requests.
- Ensure engineering work conforms to technical and organizational standards while meeting or exceeding requirements.
- Approve process specifications and design standards.
- Maintain an ongoing awareness of new developments and trends in our industry that could impact or influence current and future products.
- Work extensively with sales on product development ideas and direction and report regularly on progress. Use sales as voice of customer for ideas worth pursuing and conduct feasibility on sales and functionality to meet well defined project goals.
- Learn, understand and use TCM - MRP system, and Inventory design software
- Learn, understand and use ECN process
- Report monthly status reports to senior managers on projects updates and statuses.
- Complete and assist in 2D sales application drawings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 4 years of work experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, team, project and organizational skills
- Strong computer software skills in engineering/ design related software, ERP/MRP, MS Office proficiency etc.
- Willingness to embrace the Systems and Chamberlain values and behaviors.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of time including visits to Oakbrook IL and customer sites. International travel may be required.
