Computer Programmer Level I-IV

Location: Fort Sam Houston, TX

Classification: Exempt - Salaried

Employment Class: Full-Time Regular

Position Summary:

Advanced Computer Learning Company, LLC is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Computer Programmer at one of four levels, to support software programming services for the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide programming support in writing code to help software applications operate more efficiently. This includes designing and updating software solutions, writing and updating source code, and managing various operating systems
  • Tasks to be conducted at the task order level:
    • Reviewing operating systems and software frequently and making any adjustments necessary to keep them running well
    • Writing code and implementing computer programs on multiple systems in the business
    • Using computer-assisted software engineering tools to automate some coding
    • Performing all requirements needed for the implementation of automated computer systems from start to finish
    • Using code libraries to simplify the writing of code
    • Collaborating with software developers in the creation of programs

Experience/Education/Common Task Requirements:

Specific Experience/Skills:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of a particular area, such as human resources, training strategies, medical systems, computer science, engineering, mathematics, applicable federal policies, regulations, and standards, or the various sciences
  • Experience with Medical programs, training, doctrine, or policy is a plus

General Experience/Education levels:

  • Level I: Up to three (3) years of experience and a BA/BS degree or certification. Experience at this level demonstrating responsibility in assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions
  • Level II: Four (4) to ten (10) years of experience and a BA/BS or MA/MS degree or certification. Experience at this level reflects performing all functional duties independently
  • Level III: Over ten (10) years of experience and/or a MA/MS degree or certification. Experience at this level includes working on high-visibility or mission-critical aspects of a given program and independently performing all functional duties. May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the actions of all staff assigned to a specific project/task
  • Level IV: A Subject Matter Expert (SME) with qualifications and/or particular expertise that are exceptional and/or highly unique. SMEs do not have specific experience/education qualifications but are leaders for a given area of knowledge. SMEs typically initiate, supervise, and/or develop requirements from a project's inception to a conclusion for complex to highly complex programs. Provides strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff; offers detailed analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for mission-critical challenges/issues; consults with the client to define needs or problem; supervises studies and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions

Common Task Requirements:

  • Prepare reports, memos, letters, forms, briefings, emails, and other documents using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
  • Make changes to Word documents, modify Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations to enhance their effectiveness or to repair/correct minor errors
  • Accomplish any training necessary to execute tasks
  • Provide customer service as needed and respond to information requests
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, phone systems and use computers for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, electronic mail, and other applications

  • Successful candidate will be subject to Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
