Director of Field Education Assistant Professor of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work Program

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty administrator position (9-month) in the College of Social Work, to begin in August 2022. The BSW Director of Field Education's primary responsibility is the development and maintenance of a high quality social work field education program at the BSW level.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The BSW Director of Field Education will teach and engage in ongoing social work scholarship and service to the profession and community consistent with University expectations for tenure-track faculty. The Field Director, in collaboration with the Director of the Bachelor of Social Work program, will:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the BSW field education program;
  • Participate in designing the BSW curriculum;
  • Develop and implement field education policies and procedures;
  • Forge partnerships with organizations to establish field internships;
  • Work to connect the theoretical and conceptual contribution of the classroom with the practical world of the practice setting by training and maintaining relationships with field supervisors and field liaisons;
  • Support accreditation compliance in the oversight of field education;
  • Maintain relevant data and produce written reports when necessary;
  • Model respect for diversity and difference in the engagement of community partnerships;
  • Facilitate training and mentorship of field faculty;
  • Foster the implementation of evidence-informed practice by working collaboratively with other professionals in the community to solidify field placements;
  • Screen and arrange for the placement of BSW students;
  • Utilize field placement software in the process of field placements.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff in the College of Social Work to accomplish the program's mission, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications

  • An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is required and an earned doctorate in social work, social welfare or closely related field is preferred
  • Two or more years of post-MSW social work practice experience;
  • Experience in social work field education and field supervision in a CSWE-accredited program
  • Two years full time teaching in a university setting with at least one year served as Field Director is preferred; evidence of teaching excellence is preferred
  • Teaching experience in the core courses for social work at the BSW level
  • Physical ability to travel the area to investigate and supervise field practicum placements.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statementand affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
