Job Title - Chemist III - Research and Development

Department - Tracer Diagnostics

Reports to - Laboratory Supervisor

Job Summary

The R&D Chemist role works as a team with laboratory staff, Sales and Engineering to perform advanced technical and analytical work to investigate the chemical nature of unknown substances and develop new products/services. Requires use of independent judgement; performed under general directions and reviewed through observation, conferences and results achieved.

Key areas of responsibility

• Performs experiments to address client concerns and applications of tracer data under field and reservoir conditions
• Contributes to the discovery and development of new and existing products and technologies
• Performs laboratory analyses in order to produce reliable and precise reports to support scientific investigations within the oil and gas industry
• Records, evaluates, interprets and summarizes technical data
• Prepares protocols, memos, reports, and regulatory documents
• Develop and conduct experiments to test hypotheses, improve tracer technology and develop new products and services
• Subject Matter Expert on tracer chemistry, analytical techniques and/or petroleum geochemistry and related fields
• Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer
• Align individual goals with NCS corporate goals, while adhering to the NCS Promise
• Participate in your Personal Development for Success (PDS)
• Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Masters or PhD in Chemistry or related field is required
• 6 - 10 years of Analytical Laboratory working experience is required
• Knowledge of HPLC, GC, MS and other modern analytical technologies
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, willing to think on their own, with excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks
• Ability to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum, petrochemicals and laboratory chemicals without allergic reaction or nausea
• Ability to stand, bend and sit for extended time periods
• Ability to work in climate and non-climate-controlled area (95% climate, 5% non-climate)
• Ability to move or lift 50lbs

• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, on call 24/7 for technical related questions
