Location: Davis, CA - Onsite Tues/Wed/Thur, Remote on Mon/Fri

Job Details:

Under general supervision of the Risk and Safety Solutions
Associate Director for DevOps, Business Intelligence Developer working on client's Risk Services initiatives.
Responsible for working with stakeholders throughout the client's system as well as internal development teams to provide reporting, dashboards and analytics using data from the RSS Portfolio of Applications as well as client's System wide data for Risk Services.

Develop Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics solutions, including:

Requirements gathering
Data analysis and modeling
Design and building of ETL processes, reports, and dashboards
Operational maintenance and support of existing solutions

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE LEADERSHIP - 40%

Provide leadership to Business Intelligence team made up of BI developers of all skill levels, business analysts, and testing engineers.
Encourage growth and participation from all members of the team and help to evaluate all ideas to identify the best path forward.
Provide planning, analytical, and development support for the development and maintenance of analytics and reporting.
Lead the systems analysis on assigned projects, help define departmental business needs, play a lead role in the design, development and implementation of analytics and reporting projects.
Participate in the planning and development of new applications for RSS providing BI input to ensure they plan for reports, analytics and dashboards.
Participate in the technical review and provide direction in the analysis and design of potential systems.
Establish and sustain a Quality Control process for testing and fixing bugs.
Adhere to and help define, the IT Services application development methodology and toolset.
Provide project leadership to career staff and student interns.
Promote collaboration between development teams and BI team to share knowledge, grow team members, and create a cohesive suite of applications.
Research and propose feasible improvements in reporting for RSS applications.
Act as a technical lead developing a robust technical architecture for new and existing reporting needs in support of the Risk and Safety Solutions mission.
Mentor junior developers to enhance their technical skills and enhance their career and business knowledge.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPMENT - 40%

Design and Creation of dynamic reporting and Dashboards in support of Risk and Safety Solutions applications as well as UCOP Office of Risk Management.
Work with development teams to learn application data. Create robust and complex reports with drill down capabilities.
Assist application development teams with in app reporting, providing knowledge for best practices.
Create robust dashboards linking data from multiple applications as well as external databases to create information radiators applicable from C level down stakeholders.
Use the Microsoft BI tool set while also having an understanding of other relational databases and nonrelational data sources, in order to maintain and manage data for reporting.
Become an expert in system data in order provide analytics to executive level stakeholders.
Work with the BI architect to drive technical decision and best practices.

DATA ANALYTICS - 15%

Provide support for data analyst, scrum master and business analysts to identify requirements.
Work closely with stakeholders to gather initial feedback to enhance reporting and dashboards.
Record requirements and participate in design discussions and planning for technical implementation.
Work with application development teams to understand their business process and products and provide reporting assistance

SPECIAL PROJECTS 5%

Assist the application development team, department, or division with special projects.
Work on shortterm and longterm assignments within the division.
Assignments will be at the department's discretion, but related to work performed by the department or division.

Minimum Education/ Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Document Databases, such as MongoDB, and the migration of NoSQL to SQL databases.
Experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence and Data Management tool set, with a focus on, but not limited to, Power BI (including DAX, data modeling and visualization), SQL Server, TSQL, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Experience leading and mentoring a cross functional team.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

Interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of faculty and staff on a system wide level to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Preferred Education/Experience:

4 years of experience in Business Intelligence development.
Experience working effectively in a service oriented team environment.
Knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics and Pipelines.
Knowledge of Data Warehousing technology and architecture.
Experience applying iterative software development methodologies, working with a team for software development, and scheduled, process controls.
Experience working in a collaborative Agile Software Development environment

Decision making and problem solving skills.

Work Environment:

Valid driver's license for occasional travel/training activities to various locations.
Work exible schedule evenings, weekends and holidays to work with clients, and meet operational and project priorities.
