Job Description

MH Miles Company, CPA, PC is a certified public accounting firm with offices in Decatur, Georgia, Douglasville, GA, and Washington, DC. Our firm and its affiliates consist of certified public accountants, certified fraud examiners, management consultants, and support staff who have substantial experience in serving commercial concerns of all sizes, non-profit organizations, and governmental organizations. Our most important objective is to provide quality, efficient, professional personalized services to our clients. We specialize in providing services to four distinct industries: Transportation, Nutrition, Education, and Not-for-Profit.

We are in search of a vastly skilled, experienced, and self-motivated Compliance Auditor to join the MH Miles Company team. The Compliance Auditor will be based in Georgia. The Compliance Auditor will take an active role in engagement execution, project management and direct auditing of contracting entities with government agencies. This role will be responsible for conducting audits and compliance reviews of sub-recipients receiving funding to operate USDA Child Nutrition Programs including the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). In addition to performing the various auditing and monitoring tasks outlined, this role requires flexibility, problem solving capabilities, excellent time management and excellent attention to detail with great communication skills are a must, as well as familiarity with all necessary governing policies and procedures required when auditing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

· Gaining a comprehensive understanding of sub-recipient operations and processes and using this knowledge on compliance monitoring engagements.

· Developing audit workpapers.

· Reviewing and evaluating risk, documenting, and assessing key controls, documenting and assessing process flows and identifying significant accounting issues related to the auditee’s operations.

· Evaluating sub-recipient compliance with Program regulations including, but not limited to 7CFR 210, 225, 226, 235 and 245, FNS Instruction 796-2 Rev. 4, FNS Instruction 796-4 Rev. 4, 2CFR200, FAR 31 and CACFP, SFSP, NSLP memos, policies, handbooks and guidance issued by USDA and the respective State Agencies.

· Communicating to Senior Associates/Management about potential audit and accounting issues.

· Managing engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, completing the compliance review, maintaining adequate workpapers, issuing findings and reports.

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES:

· Entry level experience in documented audit or compliance monitoring with USDA Child Nutrition Programs including:

• Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP),

• Summer Food Service Program (SFSP),

• National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Experience achieved within the last three years is preferred.

· Required adherence to structure deadlines.

· Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast- paced, interactive, results-based team environment.

· Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

· Ability to work in the United States indefinitely is required.

· Ability to travel to various client sites within the state of GA and throughout the USA and work additional hours as needed.

· A reliable insured vehicle.

· A valid Driver’s License is required.

· Covid-19 Vaccination preferred; May be required for on-site projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· BA/BS or Masters’ degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, business, nutrition, or other related fields.

· An understanding and applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).

· Ability to read and understand federal regulations.

· Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.

· Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

· Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Proficiency in audit preparation software is a plus.

· CPA, CFE, CIA a plus.

· Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethical requirements.
