Job Summary
The duties of a Foreign Language (Spanish)Teacher include creating lesson plans, preparing classroom activities, organizing teaching materials, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers and other professionals, and participating in campus events. Candidates should be passionate about teaching, value diversity, highly motivated, and will demand excellence from themselves and their students.
Essential Functions
Organize and maintain all classroom and equipment in functioning order.
Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning through organization and planning.
Teach and apply safety principles as part of all instruction.
Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
Demonstrate appropriate planning and the use of a variety of instruction techniques and strategies.
Communicate with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, maintaining an open positive relationship as appropriate to provide guidance and evaluation, and to encourage student achievement.
Establishes classroom goals and objectives, in conformation with courses of study specified by State and School District statutes, regulations and guidelines.
Evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents or guardians.
Attend staff meetings, and department meetings.
Exhibit life-long learning practices (Continuing Education/Staff Development participation).
Maintain confidentiality
Qualifications/Skills
Bachelor’s degree.
Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate
Strong instructional and classroom management skills
Must be fluent, have a strong knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary.
Deep content area knowledge
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and use fingers, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
