Cost Accountant

My client, located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is looking for a Cost Accountant to join its team. The person will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing back to the underlying activities. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. Requirements:

• BS in Accounting
• 3-5 years of Cost Accounting experience
• Experience with SAP

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Contributes to creating budgets and ensures production costs remain within budget
• Collects accounting and financial data related to assets and liabilities gained and incurred by the various departments within the company
• Prepare reports and accounting analysis to upper management related to opportunities to control costs and wastes and increase profitability
• Analyzes the costs of materials, processes, and labor to provide management with information to determine methods of reducing production costs
• Develops and implements a company’s cost procedures and policies
• Prepares product cost statements, investigating products to establish manufacturing costs
• Maintains responsibility for routine compilation of parts manufacturing costs for payroll, inventory accountability, distribution of factory labor, verification of actual costs and computation of variances
• Checks and clears data on labor and materials costs burden and expense items, inventory, and profit and loss adjustments
• Devises, installs or controls systems for determining unit cost of products or services
• Distributes costs between the various divisions of management and production
• Classifies production costs into wages, material and overhead
• Supports annual external audits, physical inventory counts and cycle counts
