Associate Test Automation Engineer (Remote)

Job Summary
Under supervision, the Test Automation Engineer, Associate (TAEA) designs, develops, executes, and maintains automated test cases that assess software functionality. With oversight by technical leadership, the TAEA formulates and implements plans to improve automation testing coverage, quality of automation tests, and quality of environments to support the testing plan. The TAEA works closely with product and development teams during the development and launch phases of the software.
What You’ll Do
Under supervision, designs, develops, executes, and maintains automated tests that assess software functionality. Identifies test data needs and sets up data. Troubleshoots errors and facilitates resolution through updates to scripts, test data, or by communicating application issues to development teams.
Works collaboratively with development teams to learn automation needs. With supervision, plans and implements functional scripts according to application requirements. Works to reduce redundant manual testing through automation.
With supervision from leadership, formulates and implements plans to improve automation testing coverage, quality of automation tests, and quality of environments to support the testing plan. Focuses on providing automation types of smoke, functional, and regression.
Serves as an advocate for automation testing. With oversight, develops an integrated automated and manual testing plan to ensure feature coverage. Responsible for bringing awareness of automation script coverage to QAs so that they can utilize scripts to replace or enhance manual testing. Provides training to QAs on processes to run, evaluate and maintain existing scripts.
Strives to become competent with all tools. Follows standards, utilizes best practices, and is receptive to review and critique.
Communicates status of automation projects to team members and leadership. Uses metrics to show the progress of automation coverage or quality assessments.
Builds relationships with managers, product owners, engineers, QAs, and SRE to expedite work throughout the software development and launch phases of the software.
Performs all assignments in conjunction with agile development teams. Continuously works to improve knowledge of Agile, Scrum, LeSS, and any other approved agile approaches.
Performs manual testing on escalated user issues, application functionality, and release-based testing.
Increases knowledge of technology, software testing practices, quality practices, and communication skills.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
Recommends strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
Performs other duties not otherwise listed as required by the company.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related with 0-2 years of experience in software development or 2 to 3 years of experience as a quality analyst, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Mabl is highly preferred.
Strong analytical skills
Ability to follow procedures, manager work tasks, self-motivate and work to a deadline.
