Position: Coordinator, Active Older Adult Programs

Description: YMCA of Greater Cleveland has an immediate need for an Active Older Adult (AOA) Lead who is responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of programs and services for older adults. Responsibilities include planning, marketing, delivering, and evaluating effective educational, cultural, artistic and social activities, trips, and special events.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and create a regular schedule programs and services for older adults that foster participant engagement and relationship building.
  • Serve as a leader for special events related to Older Adults within the branch and community.
  • Recruit and provide appropriate, qualified leadership/collaborators for AOA programs.
  • Implement and maintain the AOA membership retention program. Monitor monthly AOA connectivity and create strategies to improve participation.
  • Ensure that all AOA membership information in Daxko is accurate and current. Reconcile inaccuracies and ineligibles utilizing monthly reports from Healthways and American Specialty Health online information system.
  • Ensure that promotional materials are distributed at branches.
  • Monitor income and expenses in relationship to the Senior Service Budget in collaboration with branch and department leadership. Implement actions to ensure sound fiscal management. Address all concerns regarding programming (content, safety, instruction, etc.). Respond to member feedback in a timely manner.
  • Organize and facilitate special AOA events, on- site and off-site (health talk, luncheon, screenings, blood pressure checks, bingo, arts/crafts, bible study, lunch-n-learn, etc.)
  • Gather periodic participant feedback through distribution and compilation of written evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college or advanced course work preferred.
  • Minimum 1 years' experience in program development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization, and surrounding communities.
  • Demonstrate effective public speaking ability and group leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Minimum 1 years' experience in working with active older adult groups.
  • Experience in creating and organizing activities for the senior population.
  • Be customer service focused and willing to go the extra mile. Must possess interpersonal skills to relate to diverse groups.
  • Must have current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Blood Bourne Pathogens certifications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college or advanced course work preferred.
  • Have knowledge of YMCA policies/procedures and current program offerings in department.
  • Possess good organizational skills, the ability to work effectively with others as part of a team, ability to work independently, and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Be customer service focused and willing to go the extra mile. Must possess interpersonal skills to relate to diverse groups.
