  • American Telecommunications, Inc. [AmeriTel] was incorporated in New York State in November of 1996 after purchasing the paging and electronics business of First Beep, Inc. First Beep consisted of one retail location in downtown Manhattan, selling beepers, small electronics, and AT&T cellular phones. It had a customer base of 4,000 monthly airtime subscribers and several corporate clients. In 1997, switching its focus to cellular phones, ATI became a dealer for both Omnipoint and Sprint PCS. Initially a sub-agent, ATI leveraged its relationship and commitment to T-Mobile to become T-Mobile's largest national prepaid Master Dealer for three years running, and
