  • In 1954 Dallas Smith founded Dallas Smith Corp. in Indianapolis, Indiana. The company developed, owned and operated automotive pre-delivery centers which provided new car get-ready services for General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company and the Chrysler Corporation. These pre-delivery centers prepared and delivered vehicles with "the highest quality showroom condition" to U.S. automotive dealers! The company grew to become the largest U.S. company operating automotive pre-delivery centers. The division was sold in 1969 to the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1960, Dallas Smith formed a trucking division at the auto pre-delivery center in Phoenix, Arizona to transport new General Motors vehicles
