  • SoMat developed the product a few years ago with Michigan-based Robert A. Denton, Inc. The product is called IDDAS, short for Denton-SoMat Intelligent Dummy Data Acquisition System. It was developed a few years ago, initially to collect data from instrumented dummies during automotive crash testing. The IDDAS system was developed largely by Norm Miller, a co-founder of SoMat and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois. Miller said he has been following Pathfinder's progress and was pleased that NASA was able to buy the IDDAS system off the shelf and use it for the Mars Pathfinder mission. SoMat...
